Two Wheels Toosday issue 002; Clean chain

Oh why, oh why.  No-one can get pleasure from this job.  It’s got to be the worst.  And for what benefit?  I can list them all – but I won’t, it’s too dull.  Just take it as read, that a clean chain is good and a dirty one is bad.  Pay someone (ideally me) to do it for you!  Failing that, invest in an auto cleaner and some fluid that’s eco friendly, a space that can get dirty and some gloves.  Enjoy.  If you are more technically capable, remove the chain – so much easier to clean when off the bike. And remember that all those bits that come into contact with the chain, need cleaning too – cassette, front chain rings and derailers.  Don’t forget to add new chain lube when nicely clean!  Or go wax – another debate that I cannot get involved in – a ‘pure enthusiasts’, thing.  I guarantee that a clean, well maintained chain (and drive-train), will make your bike feel better, be cost effective and most of all, look good!  Until next time, #handlebars_haynes
